Marathon of Hope: the Terry Fox musical

The story of Canadian legend Terry Fox is being brought to life in a musical on stage.

It took former Sheridan College student John Connolly years to write it, and now Marathon of Hope will light up the stage on his former campus.

“It was September of 2004 and the Terry Fox run was on and I saw a poster and it just sort of clicked. So, I had no idea what I was getting into. It’s been a long road but it’s been wonderful and a real privilege to collaborate with the Fox family on this.”

The cast is comprised of professional actors, like Joshua Wiles who plays Fox.

“It’s very interesting, humbling to be asked to play a Canadian icon, hero like that and you just really hope that you can do him justice. It’s incredibly daunting, but it’s also incredibly challenging and rewarding as well.”

The crew are all Sheridan students.

Marathon of Hope opens tomorrow and is on until December 8th at Theatre Sheridan in Oakville. Proceeds from the play go to the Terry Fox Foundation for Cancer Research.
