Man wanted for allegedly assaulting man with sledgehammer in Welland

A 26-year-old man is wanted on assault charges after he allegedly struck someone with a sledgehammer in Welland Saturday evening.

Niagara police and paramedics were called around 5:30 p.m. to the area of Hennepin Avenue and Southworth Street North, where they found a male victim with non-life-threatening injuries.

Paramedics then transported him to a local hospital.

It’s unclear what led to the attack.

Investigators are now searching for Aidan Thibeault who is wanted for assault with a weapon and assault causing bodily harm.

Police describe him as having a medium build, hazel eyes and short hair.
