Man sought by police after exposing himself to hikers on Hamilton trail

Hamilton police are searching for a man who exposed himself to hikers on the Red Hill Trail.

Police say two separate incidents were reported on Aug. 12 and Sept. 22.

In both reports, police were told a man exposed himself to hikers near Glendale Falls by Old Mud Rd. between the hours of 11 a.m. and 12 p.m.

The man is described as white, with a “chubby” build, roughly six feet tall, in his late 20s to early 30s, with short light brown hair, and “scruffy” facial hair.

Police say the man was wearing a yellow hooded sweatshirt and bright blue sweat pants during the Sept. 22 incident.

Investigators are asking any residents in the area to review their video surveillance for any footage that may help with these investigations.

Hamilton police are reminding residents to be vigilant when using city trails. They have offered the following tips to help keep you safe.

  • Walk/run along trails with a partner when possible
  • Tell someone the route you are taking and the anticipated length of time you will be gone
  • Avoid poorly-lit paths or running/walking when it is dark
  • Stick to populated paths when running/walking/cycling
  • Carry a cellphone and/or personal alarm device
  • Run without headphones
  • If you are confronted, be loud and shout for help
