Man in serious condition after being hit by car in Hamilton

A man in his thirties is in hospital after being struck by a vehicle in Hamilton’s east end.

It happened near the intersection of Barton St. East and Sherman Ave. North around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Police say the man was hit after he walked into live traffic. He was unconscious when emergency crews arrived and was transported to hospital in serious condition but is expected to be okay.

The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and was not injured during the collision. Police say no charges have been laid at this time.

A stretch of Barton St. East will remain closed for the next few hours as police investigate.
