A man is in hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries after a shooting late-Thursday afternoon at the Niagara Gateway Information Centre in Grimsby.

Niagara police say the lone suspect fled the scene just off of Queen Elizabeth Way before officers arrived and they believe that the incident was targeted.

The victim was transported to an out-of-region hospital for treatment.

The information centre was closed while police investigated. It has a tourism kiosk and restaurants and is a popular stopping point for visitors and buses entering the Niagara area.

Anyone with information is asked to call 905-688-4111, option 3, extension 1009383, or Crime Stoppers of Niagara at 1-800-222-8477.
