Hamilton police investigate overnight assault in Stoney Creek

UPDATE

Hamilton police are investigating after a man was assaulted in Stoney Creek overnight.

Police were initially called to a shooting on Gainsborough Rd. near Keats Rd. just after midnight Tuesday.

Officers found a man suffering from lacerations to his face. He was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and is in stable condition. Police say the victim is not cooperating with police.

“A medical assessment has indicated the injuries sustained are not believed to have occurred as a result of gunfire,” said police in a news release.

There is no information about the attacker at this time.

The area was closed for several hours but reopened shortly before 4 a.m.
