Ontario Provincial Police say a man has died after his vehicle crashed beneath a broken down transport truck on Highway 401 just south of Guelph on Thursday evening.

In a video posted to Twitter, OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt says a disabled delivery truck was parked on the right shoulder of Highway 401 between Highway 6 North and Townline Rd. in Puslinch, Ont., when a car smashed into the back of it.

Officers say the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

All westbound lanes of Highway 401 at Highway 6 North were closed for several hours as police investigated, but they have since reopened.

Cambridge OPP and the Collision Reconstruction Unit continue to investigate the collision.

During the road closure, police say another driver crashed through the barrels toward emergency crews at the scene.

A man was then arrested for impaired driving and his vehicle was impounded.
