Man arrested for violent random attack in Hamilton now charged with murder
Hamilton police have charged 38-year-old Keith Overholt with first-degree murder of Andrew Ainscow and the attempted murder of a 39-year-old man from Hamilton.
Overholt has also been charged with attempted murder for the attack on a 46-year old female around 6:30 p.m. Monday evening at the intersection of Queen St. and York St.
Police say she was violently attacked with a large stick and was taken to hospital.
Police believe Ainscow was killed around 1:15 am on November 10th in an alley just west of James St. S between Duke St. and Bold St. The attempted murder occurred ten minutes later at the intersection of MacNab and Bold St.
Police say there is no connection between Overholt and the victims. A knife has been recovered which investigators believe to be the murder weapon.
Police are not looking for any other suspects.
