Man arrested for intentionally hitting motorcyclist with car in Wainfleet

Niagara police say a man is in custody after intentionally hitting a motorcyclist in Wainfleet.
It happened on May 4, at around 1:45 p.m., at the intersection of Regional Road 24 (Victoria Avenue) and Regional Road 27 for reports of a vehicle collision involving a motorcycle.
The 40-year-old motorcyclist was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police say investigation revealed that the motorcyclist was intentionally struck by the suspect, who was driving a 2017 Toyota Corolla that was affixed with stolen license plates.
Jason Marttila, 48, of Welland was arrested and charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and mischief over $5,000.
Police say Marttila has been held in custody pending a bail hearing that is scheduled to take place on May 5.
