A 28-year-old man from Milton has been arrested in connection with a break and enter after he crashed into a police cruiser in Halton Region.

Shortly before 12 p.m. Tuesday, police received reports that a man was breaking into a home in Kilbride and stealing property from inside.

The man was seen leaving the home in a vehicle which police later tracked down in the area of Derry Rd. and Appleby Line in Milton.

Police say the man “intentionally” crashed into a police cruiser, causing a head-on collision.

“As a result of the collision, the suspect vehicle went off the roadway and into a ditch. The vehicle became inoperable and the suspect was arrested. No injury was sustained to the officer,” said Halton police in a news release.

Michael Miller is charged with break and enter, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, fail to remain at the scene of an accident, and two counts of fail to comply with probation.

Miller was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Derry Rd. was closed in the area of Appleby Line for several hours as police continued the investigation.
