Man arrested after allegedly trapping group in Brantford motel room

Brantford police say they’ve arrested one man after he allegedly confined multiple people in a motel room.

Around 8:30 a.m. Saturday, officers were dispatched to a motel on Colborne Street and Clara Crescent after receiving reports of a man holding multiple people against their will.

Police say they found a machete inside the room, but no injuries were reported.

A 39-year-old man from Ohsweken has been charged with the following:

  • Forcible Confinement x 2
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Intimidation – Use Violence
  • Utter Threat to Cause Death x 2
  • Breach of Probation

Officers added that seven other people were located inside the motel room, two of which were arrested on outstanding warrants.
