Man, 49, dies in workplace accident at Niagara Falls’ Tecna Forge

Police say a 49-year-old man has died following a workplace accident at a manufacturing facility in Niagara Falls last weekend.
Emergency services responded shortly before 10 a.m. Saturday to Tecna Forge located at 5770 Don Murie St.
First responders arrived to find an injured employee. Paramedics transported him to a local hospital, where he later died.
A family member has identified the victim as David Norkett. They say the 49-year-old man was a part of the maintenance team and was operating machinery when the accident occurred.
“This is a tragedy that has destroyed my sister and their two girls,” Peter Corfield, Norkett’s brother-in-law, told CHCH News in an email.

Niagara police confirmed the accident is consistent with a workplace injury and notified the Ministry of Labour and Ontario’s Office of the Chief Coroner.
A ministry inspector attended the scene and issued one order and one requirement to the employer.
CHCH has reached out to Tecna Forge for comment.
The cause of death remains under investigation, but officers say there is nothing to suggest any criminality.
