Male suspect arrested after random stabbing of teen in Hamilton

Hamilton police have arrested a 37-year-old local man in connection with a random stabbing of a teenager that happened in the city’s west end.

On Wednesday at around 5:30 p.m., officers were called to the area of Main Street West and Frid Street for a report of a stabbing.

Investigators say a 16-year-old male victim called 911 and reported that he had been randomly attacked by an unknown male and believed he had suffered a stab wound.

Police attended the area and located the victim, who was transported to a local hospital, where his injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening.

Several roads in the area were closed to assist with the search for the suspect and the investigation.

Officers say the suspect was located nearby and arrested without incident. Police searched the area and successfully located the weapon believed to have been used in the attack.
