Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating after a fatal boating incident in Georgian Bay.
Police responded to Colpoys Bay around 10:33 p.m. Friday after residents reported hearing “calls for help” coming from the water.
Two civilian boats went to the area and located three males in the water. Police say two of the men were transported to hospital by Bruce County paramedics.
Police discovered a 16-foot vessel had sunk and a fourth man was still missing.
Following a search by the Canadian Coast Guard, an OPP vessel, a Cape Croker Police vessel and area residents, the body of the missing boater was found approximately 20 feet under water.
A 39-year-old man has been charged with impaired operation of a vessel causing death.
Grey Bruce OPP officers, Grey Bruce OPP Crime Unit, OPP USRU, and Technical Traffic Collision Investigators continue to investigate the incident.
Police are not identifying the involved parties at this time.
