Man arrested after woman found dead in Hamilton apartment

39-year-old Shaun Chiasson has been arrested after a woman was found dead in a central Hamilton apartment.

Police say someone called 911 around 9 p.m. Monday night, to report a man needing medical attention in the area of King St. E and Sherman Ave.

Paramedics and police responded and found an injured man. The responding officer recognized the man as someone who lived nearby who was known to the police.

Police say they began investigating how the man was injured.

According to a news release, officers entered his apartment and found a woman “suffering from signs of trauma.” She was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Her death is being treated as the city’s 11th homicide of the year.

Police say Shaun Chiasson has been charged with second-degree murder.

Forensic investigators are at the apartment searching the apartment and the building’s common areas.
