A Made-in-Canada Canada Day

Whether this is or isn’t a long weekend, Canada Day is still an excuse to celebrate all things Canadian, but can you celebrate with just Canadians things?

There are all kinds of patriotic paraphernalia out there, but most of it is made in China. But you can find Canadian-made flags made in Barrie, if you look. Sure, it costs a bit more — but there’s nothing more Canadian than having to pay higher prices.

There’s nothing like relaxing in a real Muskoka chair, but make sure it’s Canadian-made.

You’re going to have to think small to really go Canadian. An Ontario craft beer like Creemore might fit the bill.

And while you might think there’s nothing more Canadian than Canadian Rye Whiskey, this one’s actually British — and Canadian Club — is American.

Again — think small — like 40 Creek, from small town Grimsby Ontario. And when you go to grill up your 100% Canadian beef hamburgers, you might do it on a 100% Canadian grill — like this Napolean — made in Barrie, with Canadian steel.

Oh well. After all, Canada is a multicultural nation.

Okay, so maybe you won’t be able to make it a completely Canadian Canada Day, but if you truly want to celebrate things Canadian, you can come pretty close.
