Low temperature record set

It may not be a big surprise, but Hamilton set a new cold weather record today.
At 6 o’clock this morning, the temperature at Hamilton International Airport dropped to a frigid minus 22 degrees, feeling like minus 28 with the wind chill.
That breaks the previous record of minus 19.8 recorded on this day in 1994. The weather station opened in 1959.
Hamilton is currently under its third cold weather alert of February. An alert is issued whenever the current or forecast temperature drops below minus 15, or minus 20 with the wind chill.
Temperatures are expected to warm up this weekend, but will drop again early next week.
