Long weekend closures & fireworks

With Canada Day on Sunday this year, most businesses will be operating as usual before taking the holiday on Monday.

That includes government offices, libraries, banks, and Canada Post. Most malls, beer and liquor stores will be closed as well.

While there are no changes on Sunday, local and GO transit services will be running on holiday schedules.

Electricity will be charged at the off-peak rate all day; and make sure to check your waste collection calendar. In certain areas it will be delayed a day all next week.

Fireworks displays

If you’re looking to catch some Canada Day fireworks there are a number of options in the Golden Horseshoe.

  • Burlington: Spencer Smith Park, at 10 on Sunday.
  • Niagara Falls: at the falls, Sunday at 10.
  • Toronto: Mel Lastman Square, Ashbridges Bay and Amesbury Park, Sunday at 10.
