Long-time CHCH anchor, reporter and producer Dwight Ryan dies after lengthy illness

CHCH News is remembering a long-time member of our television family.

Reporter, anchor and producer Dwight Ryan died overnight after a lengthy illness.

Ryan graced TV screens in Hamilton, Halton and Niagara for 18 years with CHCH as an anchor, producer and general assignment reporter covering local news and major events across the country.

In total, he spent 28 years working in broadcasting, beginning with a part-time job at a Hamilton radio station when he was still attending high school in Ancaster.

Some of his long-time colleagues describe him as the most caring person, who didn’t have a mean bone in his body.

Ryan was known for his humour and often told jokes that would have the newsroom erupt in laughter — even if they’d heard the joke many times before.
