The relaxation of restrictions can’t come too soon for Ontario’s restaurant industry. Normally, restaurants would be packed on Valentine’s Day, now owners are hoping the day will be enough to get some diners back.

Dave Fauteux, the owner of Bon Temps restaurant on Young Street in Hamilton says Valentine’s Day is especially important this year. “We noticed in the first week of reopening that things weren’t as busy as we were hoping for it to be, but Valentine’s Day is really giving it a boost.” Bon Temps is fully booked for dinner service Monday night. The owner of Bon Temps restaurant says having Valentine’s Day fall on a Monday this year, was actually a good thing because it sort of stretched out the festivities. “We have been full since Thursday of last week for Valentine’s Day. I think having it on a Monday has really kinda helped spread Valentine’s Day over a four-day period.”

Restaurant owners are hoping Valentine’s Day gets people back into the groove of enjoying a meal out.
