Live chickens released on Hwy. 401 in Milton after truck collision

A stretch of Highway 401 in Milton is experiencing major delays after a crash Wednesday morning left the road littered with live chickens.
Ontario Provincial Police say a transport truck carrying chickens and a sedan collided, resulting in the live chickens being released onto the highway.
The driver of the truck was taken to hospital with minor injuries following the incident.
Officials say lane closures are in effect in both directions of the highway west of James Snow Parkway, and are recommending commuters take alternate routes.
Animal welfare are on scene, and OPP are investigating.
