A country-wide food recall has been issued for various brands of frozen waffles due to possible Listeria contamination.

The Canadian portion of the recall by Illinois-based TreeHouse Foods covers some waffles sold under the following brands: Compliments, Great Value, No Name, Selection and Western Family.

The company says the issue of possible bacterial contamination was found through routine testing at its manufacturing facility in Brantford. No illnesses have been reported.

Listeria infection is a foodborne bacterial illness that can be very serious for people with weakened immune systems, pregnant women and people older than 65.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says there may be more recalls on the way. For the full list visit the Canadian government’s food recall warning webpage.

The public and retailers are advised “not to consume, use, sell, serve or distribute any recalled products.”
