Lieutenant Governor’s levee a party like it’s 1812
This New Year’s Day marks an historic occasion for Canada, and especially this part of Ontario.
This is the beginning of three years of events, marking a troubled period in Canada’s history. But it’s also a time that helped shape the country we live in today.
Ontario’s Lieutenant Governor held his annual New Year’s levee today. But not at Queen’s Park. Instead he was at Fort George in Niagara-on-the-Lake, just across the river from the United States — one of the places where Canadians and Americans fought against each other and died.
