Liberals face challenge to gain opposition support in Parliament, says political analyst

CHCH News anchor Manesa Dhanabalan spoke with Mount Royal University professor and political analyst Lori Williams on the struggles for support the Liberal party now faces in Parliament.

Government House Leader Steven MacKinnon acknowledged Monday that the Liberal Party will need support from the opposition to pass an austerity budget.

Williams spoke about the difficulties the Liberals will face to shore up support in order to pass that and other legislation including the controversial border security bill.

She also explained the wide gaps between the Liberal party and the other political parties on policy areas like criminal justice, and what Prime Minister Mark Carney’s government will struggle with the most.
