Late-night deal brings welcome news for GM Ingersoll

New products, new jobs and job security for Ingersoll workers are all part of a late-night deal reached between Unifor Local 88 and General Motors. Although details haven’t yet been released, Unifor National President Jerry Dias says union members will get the whole story at an online ratification meeting Sunday. The deal will, however, see the automaker invest one-billion-dollars to transform the plant to make commercial electric vehicles. Dias adds this contract will bring total investment negotiated by Unifor with GM, Ford and Fiat Chrysler to almost six-billion dollars – including support from the federal and provincial governments.
