Commuters who take the Lakeshore West GO train from stations between Oakville and West Harbour will have to take GO buses this weekend due to an infrastructure project.

The project is scheduled to begin on Friday at 9 p.m. and end by Sunday with regular service scheduled to begin on Monday.

During this time, GO buses will replace the train service between Oakville and West Harbour GO, with trains from Oakville to Union Station operating as normal.

Metrolinx says this project includes plans to reduce travel times, add more capacity, and improve on-time performance and customer satisfaction.

Commuters who wish to bypass the bus replacement are advised to travel to Burlington GO for trips to Niagara Falls or Oakville GO for trips to Toronto.

Construction on the Lakeshore East line is scheduled to begin later this month.
