Justin Trudeau testifies about foreign interference in Canadian elections
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has wrapped up his testimony at the federal inquiry into foreign meddling in Canada’s last two elections.
The hearing was triggered by a series of media reports, citing unnamed sources and leaked documents. One of the allegations involved Chinese international students being bused to the federal riding of Don Valley North to vote in the 2019 Liberal nomination contest.
Today, Trudeau said intelligence leaks to the media can’t be refuted without declassifying secret information and putting security officials at risk.
We were joined live by criminology professor Michael Kempa from the University of Ottawa, who attended the public hearing today in the nation’s capital.
