After having its release date bumped from last summer, Jupiter Ascending is finally set to hit theatres. Written, produced, and directed by The Wachowskis (The Matrix Trilogy, Cloud Atlas), the sci-fi epic stars Channing Tatum, Mila Kunis, Eddie Redmayne, Douglas Booth, and Sean Bean.

Jupiter Jones (Kunis) was born under a night sky, with signs predicting that she was destined for great things. Now grown, Jupiter dreams of the stars but wakes up to the cold reality of a job cleaning other people’s houses and an endless run of bad breaks. Only when Caine (Tatum), a genetically engineered ex-military hunter, arrives on Earth to track her down does Jupiter begin to glimpse the fate that has been waiting for her all along—her genetic signature marks her as next in line for an extraordinary inheritance that could alter the balance of the cosmos.

Even though Jupiter Ascending unfolds across planets and galaxies, Kunis feels that the story is easily relatable. “Like a lot of us, Jupiter is one of those people who doesn’t know if she’s worth more or can achieve more, or if there’s even any more to life than what she’s been dealt. She’s been kind of sleepwalking her way through it until someone or something comes along to shake her up. I think many people can relate to that moment in their lives. I certainly can.”

Jupiter Ascending is rated PG.
