Every sailor knows that the sport provides a sense of freedom and independence. Sunday, a sailboat race was held on the Hamilton Harbour, show casing people with disabilities reaping the joys of sailing. 18 sailors participated in the Ontario Martin 16 championships, a program hosted by the Royal Hamilton Yacht Club. The volunteer coordinator says it’s a sport enjoyed by individuals of all ages, regardless of a disability. The club is always looking for more volunteers to join their annual able sail program. The summer program runs until the end of August.
