Joe Biden makes surprise visit to Ukraine in show of support

President Joe Biden made a surprise visit to Kyiv, Ukraine in show of support ahead of the one-year anniversary of the Russian invasion.

Biden spent over five hours in the city’s capital on Monday.

The visitation comes at a pivotal moment, as the war in Ukraine is expected to get worse, while Biden attempts to keep allies unified in their support.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy asked allies to quickly deliver promised weapons and urged the West to deliver fighter jets to Ukraine, something Biden has declined to do so far.

However, Biden announced an additional $500 million for shells, anti-tank missiles, air surveillance radars and other aids.

Biden’s goal was to assure Zelenskyy that the United States is prepared to stick with Ukraine as long as it takes to fight off Russian forces.
