Hamilton mayor speaks on potential impact of U.S. tariffs

CHCH spoke with businesses, consumers and Hamilton’s mayor on the impact of tariffs.

Andrea Horwath says there’s the potential for devastating layoffs.

From the alcohol at local bars to the oranges you buy at the local grocery stores, there are many ways Canadians will feel the punch and the city’s mayor says tariffs could affect tens of thousands of jobs.

Mayor Horwath says every level of government needs to step up and prevent this from happening.

She says if things do get bad, supports will be put in place to help people get through the potential hard times.
