Scientists convicted in Italian Earthquake trial
Scientists say it’s not possible to predict earthquakes, but that defence did not sway a court in Italy.
Seven scientists and experts were convicted today of failing to adequately warn citizens before an earthquake struck central Italy
in 2009, which killed more than 300 people.
The court handed down six-year-prison sentences to the defendants, but in Italy, convictions aren’t definitive until after
an appeals trial.
