Israel orders 1.1 million civilians in northern Gaza to evacuate

More than one million people in Gaza are fleeing south, as Israel orders people living in northern neighbourhoods to leave, while it prepares for an expected ground assault into the besieged enclave.
The Israeli government vowing again today to destroy Hamas, saying the last week of airstrikes targeting Gaza is “only the beginning.”
The United Nations is pleading with the government to hold off – saying this forced mass exodus will cause a “humanitarian catastrophe” – with more than 400,000 Palestinians already displaced by the war.
