It’s being billed as the latest and greatest edition of the Apple iPhone. And as of today, it’s in stores. And just like its predecessors — anticipation for the iPhone 6 has been huge. Apple stores across North America have been preparing for the huge crowds, including those in our area.

There is still a lineup outside the Apple store in the Mapleview Mall. Some people camped overnight to be first in line for the iPhone 6 and 6+. The mall even opened its doors four hours earlier, at six o’clock this morning to let people lineup inside. And once again, it was definitely madness at the mall for the arrival of Apple’s newest gadget.

The doors open wide at the Apple store in Mapleview mall. But it’s not business as usual. A massive lineup snakes from inside to outside the mall as crowds congregate for the arrival of a much-anticipated item — the iPhone 6.

It’s such an event, the Apple store is providing food and beverages to those in line. People have planned accordingly by bringing chairs — overall, making it a day out at the mall. But getting the latest iPhone isn’t an easy task. It requires patience, and dedication.

“I’ve been here since about five yesterday and it’s six now, so about 13 hours.”

Camping out at the mall can be an exhausting task. But most say the newest iPhone is worth the wait.

“Cuz it’s like being a kid at Christmas — you know, the anticipation.”

The new iPhone 6 is bigger, thinner, and has better battery life. But according to a new survey, it’s lacking one main feature.

usell.com found that the most wanted feature in the new iPhone was a sapphire screen which is difficult to scratch or crack. But instead it has ion-strengthened glass. And looking at the huge lineups, people aren’t too bothered by it.

“It’s a good product, they really support people, so I just find their whole customer service and the experience, and they hype it up, it’s fun.”

While business at other phone stores was a little slow, the lineups at Apple didn’t seem to get any shorter throughout the day. According to Apple this is the biggest IOS update to the iPhone since 2008. This, plus other new features have customers saying they’re happy.

“Nice to see they’re listening to people. They’re integrating a whole bunch of features android’s already had, it was kind of a needed upgrade, enough for me to stick around this time.”

“I’ve always been a fan of the iPhone system, but I also like the big screen of the Samsung o3 and the iPhone 6 plus is a great combination of that. And they finally got a phone that is like the best of both world’s so that’s why I lined up. I never lined up before and I lined up for this one.”

And not surprisingly, the iPhone generates more than half of Apple’s annual revenue which is about 171 billion dollars. But customers are also profiting from the product. Many people we spoke with today in the lineup say they’ll be re-selling their iPhones for much more than they bought it for and that was one of their main motivations for waiting for so long.
