Investigators close to identifying body parts

Updated Police say they’re close to identifying the woman whose dismembered head and other body parts were found last week and over the weekend.

Investigators are preparing to wrap up the Mississauga portion of the search for more body parts. Peel Regional Police say they’ve talking to the families of missing women in the region, and preparing them for the news that the victim in this case may be their missing family member.

They’re also confirming that the human remains found over the weekend in Toronto appear to be from the same person who’s body parts were found along the Credit River in Mississauga.

As they search for more possible body parts, police are also waiting for forensic tests to tell them how the victim died – then they can proceed with a murder investigation and look for a killer.

Peel Regional Police say they’ve searched everything they can search along the Credit River and they’ll end the search tonight unless something else turns up.
