Instagram, Facebook among several online platforms hit by temporary outage

Several major social media sites and online services experienced technical difficulties Tuesday.

Users trying to access sites like Facebook and Instagram found themselves unable to do so late Tuesday morning.

According to Down Detector, error reports began trickling in around 10:30 a.m.

Among the affected web services were Facebook, Facebook Messenger and Instagram.

Some users reported additional disruptions on Discord and some parts of Google’s infrastructure on the self-reporting outage website.

What caused this service disruption remains unclear, but by noon all sites were back up and running as normal.
