An inquest has been announced into the death of a man after a break-in in Hamilton nearly two years ago.

36 year old James Kiteley died on Valentine’s Day 2011, just hours after being suspected of trying to steal a TV.

He was held down on a sidewalk by two people and when police arrested him, Kiteley went into medical distress and he died later in hospital.

The SIU determined a few months later that police did not cause Kiteley’s death.

An inquest into his death will begin February 11th at Hamilton’s John Sopinka Courthouse.

The inquest is expected to last three days.
