Inmate charged with assaulting jail guard

A man facing murder charges in connection with the death of a Hamilton man has now been charged with assaulting a jail guard.

Niagara Police charged 20-year old Shaquille Collins, after he assaulted a correctional officer at the Niagara Detention Centre last month.

Collins is already facing a second-degree murder charge in the shooting death of 22-year old James Bajkor in May of last year. He’s also charged with attempted murder, possession of a firearm, five counts of breaching a probation order and two counts of breaching probation.

Collins is currently at the Maplehurst correctional facility in Milton.
