Injured Kitten

A Stoney Creek mountain family found an injured kitten over the Canada day weekend that they suspect was thrown from a moving car.

The young kitten had been living in a culvert near Christine Digiantomasso’s house, she could tell right away something was wrong with it. They took her to Beattie Pet Hospital on Stoney Creek mountain. Based on x-rays they determined she had a transverse fracture of the pelvic body. The fracture spreads across her entire pelvis and caused nerve damage that left her right hind leg limp. An orthopaedic surgeon in Oakville recommends amputating the leg.

The Digiantomasso’s have already spent $800 on vet bills, so they started a Go Fund me page called the “Jellybean recovery fund” to help pay for the operation.

The vet doesn’t know how the 10 week old kitten was injured, but says the fractured pelvis could have been caused by being thrown from a moving vehicle, or being hit by a car. Regardless, she’s expected to lead a happy life after the procedure.
