Hydro workers pay it forward

Hydro workers who received gift cards in appreciation of their work during the ice storm are extending the holiday spirit by re-gifting their cards to those in need.

Canadian Tire announced on Christmas Day that 20,000 gift cards of $50 each would be given to workers in Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada. The Ontario workers and hydro companies asked for the funds be sent to the Canadian Red Cross to help those directly affected by the ice storm. Canadian Tire says 500-thousand dollars will be given to the Red Cross to help efforts in Southern Ontario.
