The Hunting Ground is a documentary about sexual assault at U.S. college campuses directed by two-time Academy Award nominated filmmaker Kirby Dick (The Invisible War, Twist of Faith). The documentary held its world premiere earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival.

THE HUNTING GROUND, the latest feature film from Kirby Dick and Amy Ziering, takes audiences straight to the heart of a shocking epidemic of violence and institutional cover-ups sweeping college campuses across America. The team behind the Oscar®- nominated THE INVISIBLE WAR presents a scorching exposé of the startling prevalence of sexual assault at bastions of higher learning and of the powerful interests that re- victimize vulnerable students while shielding perpetrators. Using vérité footage, expert insights, first-person testimonies and a bombshell interview sure to make headlines, the film delivers a devastating indictment of campus “rape culture.”

The statistics presented in The Hunting Ground are pretty surprising: In the United States, one in five women will be sexually assaulted, and of those, only 5% are reported. Punishments for assault at some schools range from short suspensions to book reports or community service at crisis centres. Dick’s film The Invisible War led to sweeping changes in the U.S. military; hopefully The Hunting Ground brings about a similar amount of reform.

The Hunting Ground is rated 14A.
