The 10th annual Santa 5K had festive cheer filling the streets of Hamilton Sunday in the spirit of giving this holiday season.

This year’s event saw record high participation, with around 900 runners suiting up and hitting the road.

The event was sponsored by district four of the Ontario Medical Association, which represents doctors from Oakville to Fort Erie.

Richard Tytus, the chair of district four, says that the sponsorship came for doctors to not only “talk the talk” but “walk the walk” in promoting exercise and a healthy lifestyle.

Proceeds from the event will be directed towards Mission Services Hamilton to provide healthy food, safe housing and opportunities for the future for those in need this holiday season.

The next and final Santa run locally is set for next Sunday in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
