Human remains found in May Haldimand County fire, police appeal to public

The OPP are investigating the identity of a person who perished in an early May house fire in Haldimand County.

The fire broke out just after 3 a.m. on May 11 at a home on Kinross Street in Caledonia.

The Haldimand fire department arrived to find a fully engulfed house fire. Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze however human remains were located inside the home.

The identity of the victim remains unknown and the Haldimand County OPP Crime Unit is continuing to investigate with the Office of the Fire Marshal, the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.

The fire is not being treated as suspicious, and no foul play is suspected.
