Hudak calls smart meters dumb

Ontario PC leader Tim Hudak says time of use hydro meters are nothing more than tax machines.

He stopped at a Hamilton hydro transfer station Monday to attack hydro bills, saying they’ve become more feared than credit card bills.
“I don’t think every family can have all the kids showered, fed and ready for school before 7 am when high rates kick in. Not every senior will get up at 11 to do laundry.”

“I just want to give families a choice. If they want to opt in time of use rates, let them but give others a choice of flat rate that makes sense for their family.”

Hudak says energy should be an economic policy, but accuses the Liberals of treating it as a social program.
