Police officers from four different communities teamed up to take unsafe vehicles off of the road. A check-stop in Burlington over the last two days has uncovered dozens of dangerous trucks, vans and even cars. Police set up in the parking lot of the Burlington mall, and pulled over vehicles they thought looked a little bit older, or in rougher shape and what they found was pretty alarming. Almost half of the vehicles checked were unsafe for the road.

In the last day and a half police have pulled over about 70 vehicles and of those vehicles at least 30 of them were in such bad shape that they had the licence plates removed. Already this year 138 vehicles have lost wheels on GTA highways.

All together 140 vehicles were inspected. 55 were deemed unsafe, some were fixed on site, some towed away. 34 had their licence plates removed and that’s not all, police also laid 135 charges.
