Hot Tub Time Machine 2 is, naturally, the sequel to the 2010 comedy Hot Tub Time Machine. Steve Pink returns to the director’s chair with Josh Heald again providing the script. Noticeably absent is John Cusack who played Adam Yates in the first film. Adam Scott steps in to play his son Adam Yates Jr. in this one. Rob Corddry, Craig Robinson, Clark Duke, Chevy Chase also star.

When Lou (Rob Corddry) finds himself in trouble, Nick (Craig Robinson) and Jacob (Clark Duke) fire up the hot tub time machine in an attempt to get back to the past. But they inadvertently land in the future with Adam Jr. (Adam Scott). Now they have to alter the future in order to save the past… which is really the present, in the sequel from the same team that brought you the original cult hit.

The first Hot Tub film was more of a lukewarm bath when it opened in third place back in March 2010. But in true cult classic form it lived on long past its box office run making money in the home video market and getting replay on TV. That longevity, coupled with the surprisingly positive critical reception it got, made making a sequel less risky.
