Hot lane permits

Permit applications for the province’s first high-occupancy toll lanes can be submitted online beginning today. The applications at Ontario.ca/hotlanes can be made until August 21st.
The pilot project to ease congestion begins in September when the existing high-occupancy vehicle lanes on the QEW will be designated as high-occupancy toll lanes. Single occupant drivers will have the option to apply for a permit, while carpools of two or more will still be able to use these lanes for free.
Each term is three months long and costs $180.
