Honest Ed’s celebrates anniversary

Hundreds of loyal customers flooded Honest Ed’s in Toronto on Sunday, for a double celebration. One of Toronto’s first discount department stores held a 65th anniversary party as well as a goodbye celebration. David Mirvish, who owns the store, announced last week he is selling it. In 1948, its flashy sign and flashy deals put Honest Ed’s on the map in downtown Toronto. Customers who outgrew the discount store or moved away came back on Sunday to relive their memories.
