Homeless baseball league

Members of Wesley’s homeless baseball league were out on the field Friday morning, preparing for the league’s first all-star game.
Wesley’s homeless baseball league gives 80 men and women the opportunity to play in safe recreational activities.
This year, they’re adding an all-star game to their league. The event included a BBQ and a ceremony to recognize its players. Players say the league gives them something to look forward to every Friday.
“It gives us something to look forward to. Most of these haven’t participated in organized sports for the whole life. Most of us couldn’t afford to eat next week. Something like this is awesome, means everything,” says Bruce Rogers who plays in the league.
The league is now in its 6th year and is in collaboration with the city of Hamilton and Wesley Urban Ministries.
