Orcs, dates, and demons feature in this week’s home video release round-up.

Warcraft

Bringing an elaborate fantasy world to life on the big screen can’t be easy, but Duncan Jones was up to the task when he signed on to direct Warcraft. Along with the fact that he had to adapt a video game universe filled with mythical creatures like orcs and griffins, Jones had a rabid global fan base to cater to. The end product might have been too faithful, attempting to squeeze in as much of the world’s canon as it could, but the worldwide audience showed up to the theatres and propelled it to a $433-million box office take. The home video release includes a six-part feature called “The World of Warcraft on Film”, a motion comic, close to 15 minutes of deleted and extended scenes, and a gag reel.

Mike & Dave Need Wedding Dates

Seems like Zac Efron is the go to actor for raunchy comedy these days. This year alone he’s given us Dirty Grandpa, Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising, and this week’s release Mike & Dave Need Wedding Dates. Of the three, Mike & Dave was the poorest box office performer, bringing in just shy of $76-million worldwide. Efron’s next ab-showcasing outing will be alongside The Rock in next year’s Baywatch revival. The blu-ray release features a commentary from director Jake Szymanski, Funny Or Die shorts produced for the film, 30 deleted and extended scenes, and whatever the hell an “Alternate Storyline Pig Sequence” is.
